Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album Tutorial

We had a great Stamp Camp! Here is the tutorial for the mini album so you can make it over, and over, and over......

Supplies:
4 (or more) empty toilet paper rolls
Patterned paper - we used TAC Genevieve (discontinued) and Hip Hop (v-850)
1/2" binding wire (or binder rings)- f-507
Bind it All (unless using the binder rings) f-506
Cropadile (k-102)
Corner Rounder (K-414)
Coordinating Ink and ribbon
sponge
3/8" (large eyelets)
Embellishments
Strong Adhesive (we use Xyron tape)
Instructions:
1) Make sure your toilet paper roll is as clean as possible without lots of scraps of paper hanging off of it. Flatten them.
2) Cut four pieces of patterned paper 4 1/2" x 6" . Run them through the Xyron machine, or apply adhesive to them, making sure to get all the way up to the edges of the paper.
3) Wrap around flattened toilet paper roll, overlapping just a little bit. Trim off any excess.
4) Cut out four pieces of paper 4 1/4" x 2 3/8" for the tags. Using the corner rounder, round the edges.
5) Using coordinating ink, distress the edges (and backs of the tags, if you wish) of the tags and toilet paper roll. Get just inside the edge of the tp roll by using a sponge to apply the ink.
6) Punch binding holes in your tp rolls, one at a time, using the bind it all machine. you may want to practice the hole placement on a spare roll. You can also do this step with a Crop-a-dile or a strong hole punch.
7) Determine the order you want the pages of your album to be in. Then "turn the page" of the first page of your album, so that now you are looking at the second page of the album and the first page is on the back.
8) Snip off five links of binding wire and thread through the holes of the stacked tp rolls. Place in bind it all and squeeze the handle to bind. (For further instruction on how to use a bind it all, check my "links" section for a you tube link.) You can also use a binder ring at this point instead of wire. Tie ribbon on rings.
9) Using the Crop-a-dile, punch 3/8" holes in your tags. Place and set your eyelets in these holes. Thread your ribbon through them and tie into a simple knot. These are the "pull" tabs for your tags.
10) Stamp and embellish as desired! I used my tags for journalling, so I stamped journalling boxes on them (try "Floral Labels" - T2932 or "Just a Note" - T-2820) and used a white gel pen (Souffle pen from the 100 yen store) to enhance it. I also used the tag sheet that came with the paper pack to create embellishments and the title. You can also cut out individual images (like a flower or a frog, or whatever) from the patterned paper and use it as an embellishement. I did this (see the flower on the album cover?) and used Crystal Laquer (F-217) to make it shiny and dimensional. Word stamps are also great - I used "More Abundance" (t-2775) for the title.

Instructions:
1) Cut your 8 1/2 x 11 piece of purple cardstock in half, width wise, to create a standard size card base.
2) Cut a piece of white cardstock into a 3 7/8" x 5" rectangle.
3) Stamp random circles of various sizes onto your white cardstock rectangle, using the Noir Palette ink.
4) Use the Aquacolor crayons to heavily outline the circles. Once you have them outlined, you will use the water brush to draw the color from the outline into the middle of the circle. Use a circular motion when brushing, and avoid soaking the paper if possible. To add more color, simply scribble the crayon on a piece of plastic, like a cd case and use the brush to pick it up from there.
5) Adhere the now decorated cardstock onto the purple card base. If you find that the paper is a little warped, a dry iron on low heat can help this.
6) Cut a 2 5/8" square of white cardstock. Stamp "Birthday Wishes" square on it, using the Noir Palette. Outline and watercolor as you have done before. Adhere to front of card.
7) On a scrap piece of white cardstock, stamp the frog, hat and present. Watercolor as you did the others, and cut each piece out individually.
8) Use a Pop Dot to "pop" the frog, present and hat up from the page. Place them within the Birthday Wishes square.

Ship Collage Card

Happy Birthday stamp (I used the Gift with Purchase stamps)

Background texture stamp (I used a retired TAC crackle stamp)

Instructions:

1) Cut a standard size card base from the navy cardstock.

2) Cut 5 x 3 3/4" piece of tan cardstock. Using the background texture stamp (crackle, in my case), stamp the tan cardstock with Versamark ink. This will impart a "watermark" image.

3) Layer tan cardstock onto the front of the card.

4) Cut a 3 1/2 x 2 5/8" navy blue rectangle. Adhere to card (see picture).

5) Cut a 3 1/16" x 2 6/16" off white cardstock rectangle. Rub the paper lightly with a used dryer sheet to eliminate static. Stamp ship collage image on this using the Prussian Blue Palette.

6) Moving quickly, pour the Transcendence powder over the freshly stamped image. Tap off excess. Heat emboss with the Marvy heat tool - you will notice the image begins to look glossy. Adhere to navy cardstock rectangle.

7) Cut a strip of navy cardstock 3/4" x 5 1/2" . Cut a strip of tan cardstock 1/2" x 5 1/2". Layer on top of navy cardstock and adhere.

8) Cut another strip of navy cardstock 1/4 x 5 1/2" . Using the Ribbon Borders Stamp and the Prussian Blue Palette, make your faux ribbon. Layer on top of the other strips. Use the Cropadile to punch a hole in either end of the strips and attach the brads. Adhere entire strip to card base bottom.

9) Cut a strip of navy cardstock 3/4" x 2" and a strip of off white cardstock 1/2" x 1 3/4". Layer on top of each other, wipe with the dryer sheet and stamp "Happy Birthday" on the off white cardstock piece. Emboss quickly with the transcendence powder. Adhere over faux ribbon on bottom of card.

Instructions:
1) Cut your card base out of white cardstock. Standard size card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
2) Cut your card front back ground shape out of pink cardstock. I used my Cricut - Accent
Essentials Cartridge set on 3 3/4". Layer on top of your white card base.
3) Cut a 3 3/8" x 2 6/8" rectangle from your patterned paper. Layer on top of your pink back
ground shape. Place to the center left.
4) Use the Giga Scalloped Square Punch to punch out a brown cardstock square.
5) Use the Giga Square punch to punch out a white square of cardstock. Using the Pink petunia
Versamark pad and a sponge, sponge around the edges of the white cardstock square.
Adhere square to brown scalloped square. Adhere both squares to the center right of the
pink cardstock and half on top of the patterned paper (see photo).
6) Adhere ribbon across front of card, laying it over the bottom third of the scalloped square.
7) Stamp cupcake twice, using black Palette ink - once on a scrap of white cardstock, and once
on a scrap of the solid colored paper. Cut the cupcake liner out of the solid colored paper and
place it on the image stamped on the white paper. This is called "paper piecing". Then cut
the entire cupcake image out.
8) Using the Essentials Glue pad refill bottle (or your choice of clear craft glue) cover the
frosting part of the image. Then pour the white flocking over the image and gently pat it
down. Shake off excess flocking.
9) Embellish with stickles and place over the ribbon on the scalloped square, using a pop dot.
10) I used my Cricut to cut out the word "sweet" and adhered it to the top of the card. Add an
additional sentiment to the bottom right (like "birthday wishes").

Misti's Birthday Bonanza Stamp Camp!

Yes, as you can see by my blog, it has been several months since I did a Stamp Camp. But my annual Birthday Bonanza was an event, not to be missed! I had a full house on Friday night, and we created five different birthday themed cards - and of course, had my favorite birthday cheesecake from Henry's Cheesecake! YUM!!

As soon as I find where Emily hid the camera, I will upload pics of our projects, and of course, the directions on how you can make them at home.

The minute I saw this layout posted by Julie2515 on Paperwings, I knew that I wanted to do the same thing! I love the combo of black, white and red - it just screams amore!

Tips and Techniques:

Tearing: To make tearing the black cardstock easier, use a wet q-tip to trace the line you want to tear upon. This will help make your tearing easier and more uniform!

Embossing: For the embossed black paper, start by wiping black cardstock with a used dryer sheet. This will help prevent the embossing powder from sticking where it doesn't belong! Next, stamp your swirls using the embossing stamp pad. This has no color, but dries slowly to allow time for you to place your embossing powder. Next, sprinkle white embossing powder generously onto your stamped images. Give the back of the cardstock a good flick to dislodge any stray grains of powder on your paper. Heat using your heat gun until powder melts and becomes shiny.

Love Forever Card - Second Generation Stamping

This card is pretty self-explanatory. The one technique we used is called: Second Generation Stamping. This is what we used to create the "Love" background.

What you do is this: Ink up your image and press it onto a scrap piece of paper. Then without re-inking, stamp on your card. This will give a lighter image, or a second generation image. Then you can stamp another image on top of it - this time full strength! Looks cool, doesn't it?

For this card I used:

Paper: Scarlett Cardstock (V237), light pink cardstock (V-42), white cardstock (V-290)

Matchbox Valentine Tutorial

I loved this little valentine box! Small, but filled with love (and a miniature bar of chocolate, of course!). Thanks to Heather Scott for the pictures and how-to's!

SUPPLIES:

Empty matchbox (I got 10 for 100 yen!)

Patterned paper (I used TAC's UPTOWN GIRL V-922). Cut into a strip 2 1/4" wide x 4 1/4" long (or as long and wide as your matchbox). Use an additional scrap to stamp your image on.

Scrap of black paper (cut into 1 inch square or enough to mount your stamped image on)

12x12 sheet white cardstock

INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1) You will begin by inking the edges of the matchbox with Claret Palette ink.

I also take a sponge and try to get inside the edges a bit.

Step 2) Then adhere your pattern piece around the outside of the box. Be sure your adhesive gets right up to the edges so that the paper sticks down nice and tight.

Step 3) Next you will paper piece your heart - start by stamping your image onto white and a scrap of your pattern piece.

Place a piece of tape on the back side of the pattern piece and cut out - The Mini Kai Scissors work great for tiny cutting jobs..

Adhere heart over top of same heart on white piece. Cut out white piece.

Step 4) Color in the edge with a blender pen and ink pad - by simply tapping the tip of the blender on top of your ink pad and then coloring like a marker. When the colors get lighter just tap again and repeat.

Mount on the black square of cardstock and adhere to top of box. Tie ribbon around box.

Step 5) Now for the acordian folded insert! Cut your white cardstock into a strip 11"long x 2" wide (this measurement is for the matchboxes purchased at the 100 yen store. If you are in the US, you would want to cut it to 11 1/2" long x 1 7/8 " wide.)

Step 6)Now to score your accordian - the Scor-pal makes it SO easy! Because you want to score every 1 1/4 inches you need to take your 11" x 2" piece of white cardstock and place it at the 3" mark. on your Scor-pal. Score at 4 1/4.

Now slide your scored line and place it into the 3" line. (the dent of the score will sink right into the line!) Now score again at 4 1/4. Repeat until you reach the end of your paper.

Step 7) Stamp your images from the "Love Doodles" stamp set, and the "Things I Love About You" stamp from "This Boy" stamp set on both sides of the strip.

Step 8) Fold on the lines and you are done!!

January Stamp Camp

Hey everyone! It has been awhile - I told you I'm not good at this blogging thing! Well, we had January's Stamp Camp and it was a blast! We only made one project this month, but it really got everyone's creative juices flowing. We made a desktop coaster calendar. Here is mine:

We used the paper from the Catelyn and Reece collections, so there were many different varieties. I provided an assortment of embelishments and stamps and let everyone make their own creation. Everyone was so creative and they all turned out fabulous!

Here is the tutorial so that you can try to make this project at home:

Supplies:

2 - 4" square coasters

4 - 4" square pieces of patterned paper

Adhesive
Brads
Cropadile or paper piercer

Calendar pages
Additional cardstock
Paper Cutter

scissors

Decorative scissors or edge punch (I used SU scallopped edge punch)

sanding block

Coordinating ink pad (I used Pallette Cote d' Azure)

1/2 inch binding wire

Bind it All

Instructions:

Step 1
Print out your calendar pages and cut them in equal pieces.I printed mine out at redcastle for free! I set my template to a 2 3/4" square and used Tahoma Small Cap font. I cut the pages into 2 3/4" squares.

Step 2
Line the pages up on top of each other, center it over additional cardstock layers (I used a 3" piece of brown and 3 1/4" robin blue cardstock squares.). Using a pen, mark the place on the top two corners where you want your brads to go. Then use your Cropadile or paper piercer to add two holes on your marks.

Step 3
Secure your calendar pages with brads to your cardstock layers. Set aside.

Step 4
Apply adhesive to your chipboard coaster.

Step 5

Using your decorative scissors or edge punch, cut trim the inside edge of two of your pieces of patterened paper. This will be the INSIDE of your calendar, with the trimmed edge near the binding.

Step 6

Adhere one of your patterned paper pieces to your coaster. Trim any overhang of the paper.

Step 7
Sand the edges of the paper with a sanding block for a distressed look.

Step 8
Adhere patterned paper to the second coaster as well as to the back side of both coasters. Repeat trimming and sanding.

Step 9

Rub ink pad around the edges of the coaster to distress it.

Step 10

Punch binding holes in both coasters with your Binding Machine. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/bind-it-all-v20-chapter-3-lets-punch/3820836081

Alternative: You can also use a Crop-a-dile to make the holes.

Step 11

Insert wire through binding holes and close it.

Alternative:Use ribbon or binding rings to connect the coasters together.

Step 12
Tape the calendar to one side, decorate the other page with a stamped image or photo. At this point, you can add embellishments as you wish! In my example, I cut out a flower from the same patterned paper I used and glued it on the corner of my photo.

Instructions:

Cut your red cardstock to the width of your bag. I based mine on clear bags I bought at the 100 yen store. I cut mine to 6" x 4 1/2". Fold in half. lengthwise.

Cut two strips of white cardstock to match the length of the red cardstock. My dimensions are 6" x 1 1/2". Using the Brilliance ink pad and the snowflake from the Simply Christmas set, stamp a random pattern on the white cardstock strips. Then, using the poinsettia stamp from the same stamp set, randomly stamp on the white cardstock, alternating the L'Amore red and the Cote d' Azure blue inks. Adhere one strip to center of half of the red base.

Cut about 7" of ribbon and wrap it around one of the white cardstock strips, adhering the ends on the back of the cardstock. Using your paper piercer (or you can use a Cropadile or paper punch if you want) punch a hole for the brads through the ribbon and cardstock. Place and fasten brads. Adhere this strip to the other half of the red base. This will be the front of your treat bag topper.

Now, Punch a large scallop circle in blue using the Giga scallop circle punch. Punch a smaller scallop circle in red, using the Mega scallop circle punch. Take your paper piercer and poke holes in each of the scallops on the red circle. Adhere the two circles together.

Using one of the large circles stamps in the Sweet Goodies set and the Cote d' Azure ink pad, stamp an image on a piece of white cardstock. Stamp another poinsettia using the L' Amore ink pad in the center of the circle. Punch out circle image using the Super Jumbo 2" circle punch. Adhere this to the center of the scalloped circles. Place adhesive on the back (center or bottom half only!) of the layered circle and center on the front of your treat bag topper.

Last, but not least, stickle your heart out, using the Christmas red and the turquoise blue stickles for the center of the poinsettia flowers! I love stickles (Thanks, Kendra!)!

When attaching this topper to a bag, fold and staple top of bag, then, using strong adhesive (I used Kokuyo adhesive (the red kind), or you can use wonder tape) adhere it to the bag. Done!

Altoid tin gift card holder

Supplies:
Empty "altoid" type tin (bought from store, or you can purchase a plain one from TAC - item #H108 for $3.00)
Sanding blocks or fine sand paper (TAC item #F103 $2.95 for a pkg. of 2)
Patterned Paper (I used "Reece", TAC item #V846 $6.95)
Solid color paper ("Reece" again!)
Ribbon ("Reece" coordinating ribbon -TAC item B228 $4.95)
Flowers
Brad, rivet or other embellishment for flower center
Corner Rounder (TAC item #F490 $7.95)
Adhesive
Cropadile or 1/8" hole punch
Red ink (I used L'Amore Pallette Ink - TAC item #TT195 $6.00)
Sentiment Stamp (I used "Just For You" from our TAC hostess set)

Instructions:
If you are using a store bought Altoid tin, use the sanding block and sand off the label and any color, until it is simply a plain tin. Wipe with a dry cloth to remove any dust.

Cut a 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" piece of patterned paper. (Note - size is approximate and varies with tin size!) This will be your bottom layer for the lid. Round corners and adhere to lid.

Next, cut a 3 1/8" x 1 3/4" piece of your solid paper. Round the corners. Adhere ribbon to this by cutting the ribbon slightly longer than the paper and tucking it around to the back. Be sure to add a little extra (strong) adhesive to the ends of the ribbon to hold it down once the entire thing is adhered to the lid.

Once you have the ribbon in place, tack the flowers to the solid paper with a bit of adhesive. When they are situated where you want them, use the Cropadile or paper punch to punch a hole for the brad or rivet. Place your brad (or set your rivet - that is what I used - with the cropadile) through the flowers and paper.

Adhere the entire solid paper top onto the lid. Stamp your sentiment.

Add liners to the inside if desired. If you choose to do this, you would cut out paper the same size as you did for the patterned paper. Then round corners and adhere.

Fill with confetti, candy, gift cards, whatever!

Noir Palette ink (TAC item #TT220 $6.00)
Cropadile (TAC item #K100 $29.95) or a 3/16" hole punch
Ribbon of choice (I used ribbon from the Penelope set - TAC item #B226 $4.95)

Instructions:

Cut acetate sheet to 8 1/2"x 3 1/2" and score using your scor-pal according to template (top picture) below: (click on template to see entire thing!)

Then cut two 3" x 3" squares from your colored cardstock and score using template below (bottom picture):

Cut on the red lines.

Fold the acetate into a box shape and adhere it with a strip of Wonder tape along the outside of the 1/2" section. Set aside.

Fold the two cardstock squares along the scored lines to create your box top and bottom. Adhere flaps with small pieces of Wonder tape. On the box bottom, place strips of Wonder tape around the inside lip. Set acetate box into the bottom.

Punch a hole in the middle of two of the sides of the box top. Place top on acetate box and use a pen to mark the acetate where the holes are to be punched. Punch a hole in the acetate. This is where you are going to thread your ribbon through. Cut enough ribbon to thread through and form a bow.

Stamp your image on the white cardstock scrap. Color as desired and then cut out. Adhere to acetate with adhesive and pop dot.

Fill your box with treats and enjoy!

November Stamp Camp

Well ladies, I've finally got my act together and am ready to do another Stamp Camp!
This month will be featuring "Bags, Tags & Gifties". We will be making:

1) Three gift tags - Experiment with liquid applique (puff paint) & embossing powder!
2) Two gift bag toppers - One large treat bag topper and one smaller one. Great for dressing up those Christmas cookies or Thanksgiving treats!

3) Gift card tin - Alter an Altoid tin to make a beautiful gift card holder. Please bring your own altoid tin!!!
4) Acetate Treat box - Use that Scor-Pal to create an adorable treat box out of acetate and cardstock. We will also be experimenting with Prisma pencils and Gamasol.

WHERE: TOWER 212 REC ROOM
TIME: 6:30-9PM
Cost is $10, and you need to bring your own empty Altoid tin! Please RSVP so I can plan on how many kits to make!

Welcome to my Padded Room! My life is pretty crazy at the moment, so this is where I truly belong! I hope to post all sorts of info on my life (you can skip that part if you really want to!) and current projects. Hopefully, I can get some tutorials on here as well, so that you can duplicate my Stamp Camp projects at home. That would be nice, wouldn't it?
